There are no auditoriums packed with teary-eyed parents. No risers full of choirs singing inspirational songs. No graduation parties catered with nugget platters and cookie trays. There have certainly been disappointments for the Class of 2020. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate graduates in new and special ways. And that’s exactly what we’re doing on this episode of My Pleasure: The Unofficial Chick-fil-A Podcast!

A Chick-fil-A in Roanoke, Virginia pays special tribute to their graduating employees.

Pull out the nugget platter! It’s time for a graduation party! Dan Cathy is the current CEO of Chick-fil-A, son of founder Truett Cathy. (Although apparently if you ever meet him he probably won’t introduce himself as the President or CEO. Instead he says he’s in customer service.) He’s a marathon runner, trumpet player, and Sunday school teacher. In addition, he often gives commencement addresses.

We poured over graduation speeches made by Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy at schools including Georgia Southern University, Truett McConnell University and Georgia Military College. This 2015 commencement address from Truett McConnell University was one of our favorites!

At Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama, the Class of 2020 was invited to drive through campus and celebrate with faculty and staff. Along with their diploma cover and tassel, graduates also received… can you guess? Original Chick-fil-A sandwiches! Watch the video of faculty and staff tossing the free sandwiches into graduates’ cars while maintaining social distancing!

And if you’re celebrating a member of the Class of 2020, consider ordering up a cow-themed balloon bouquet, and a matching cow-print gift bag!
