God bless you, Chick-fil-A! It was the best news Mississippi College students had heard in a long time: Chick-fil-A is coming to campus! College president Blake Thompson delivered the details in a fun Facebook announcement video:

College student Jared Vardaman was so excited that he wrote a song about it. Using comedian Tim Hawkins as inspiration, he wrote a new second verse to the parody song, “God Bless you, Chick-fil-A.” He performed the song and posted it on his Facebook page where it quickly went viral.

Jared Vardaman is a Christian singer songwriter and senior communications student at Mississippi College. He’s been performing publicly since the age of 3 and even has a singing group with his family. He leads worship at his church as well. Jared shared with “My Pleasure: The Unofficial Chick-fil-A Podcast” about how he’s now known as the “Chick-fil-A guy” and even got recognized when the Chick-fil-A finally opened up on campus earlier this month.

The restaurant opened for business on August 18th, just in time for the arrival of students and the start of the fall semester. For the story behind another viral Chick-fil-A song, Shama’s ‘But It’s Sunday’, check out episode #3 of the podcast!

Here’s a look at the lyrics of “God Bless You, Chick-fil-A”:

I can proudly go for some waffle fries, and a jumbo sized sweet tea.

And I won’t forget the chickens who died and gave that right to me.

So I grab this sandwich, take a bite, put it back down on the tray.

See there ain’t no doubt I love this place! God bless you, Chick-fil-A!

At Mississippi College there’s a brand new store in town.

Thank the Lord for old Blake Thompson and that ‘eat more chikin’ cow.

Now the incoming freshman will never know the pain

of craving a chocolate chip cookie. And a frozen lemonade.

So I raise a toast with my milkshake, raise it high for all to see.

And I won’t forget those chickens who fried who gave their life for me.

So I grab this sandwich, take a bite and put it back down on the tray.

There ain’t no doubt I love this place, God bless you, Chick-fil-A!
