The History of Truett’s Luau
Less than a year before he passed away, Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy created a unique restaurant concept combining his love of Hawaii with the classic Chickfila brand. Truett’s Luau opened in December of 2013. According to the company, nearly every piece of decor inside the restaurant was handpicked by Truett himself. At 8,000 square feet it’s one of the company’s largest restaurants and it even has a waterfall.
The Hawaiian-themed restaurant has received a boost in business after various TikTok videos featuring its unique food racked up millions of views:

Truett’s Luau Unique Menu Items
There are so many unique items on the menu. Here are the ones we tried:

Chickfila Tropical Nuggets Menu Hack
Truett’s Luau is located about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, but if you can’t make it there, you can try a DIY hack to create your own Tropical Nuggets by visiting a nearby Chickfila. Buy a 5-count nugget and top it with an entire container of Sweet & Spicy Sriracha. Add about 3/4 of a tub of Polynesian. Close the lid and shake. This knock-off is a good attempt at recreating the Tropical Nuggets from the menu.
Would We Return to Truett’s Luau?
Yes we would! It’s affordable and unique and definitely doesn’t feel like fast food. It’s a nice departure from our typical Chickfila menu that we know and love. When I return there are many other things I want to try including:

- Island Chicken Sandwich
- Luau Salad
- Bubble Tea
- Pineapple Macadamia Nut Milkshake
- Frosted Pineapple
